Houston’s DocFest ’22 on December 18th was an incredible evening with Melissa Manchester, Mike Moreno and Kendrick Scott.  Melissa Manchester, the Grammy winner singer-songwriter, wowed the audience with her performance in front of a full screen video highlighting her remarkable career.  At the end of her performance, she invited DocFest’s co-founder, Chris Walker, to the stage to sing, “Whenever I Call You Friend”. The photo below of Chris and Melissa performing together says it all…

Guitarist Mike Moreno and drummer Kendrick Scott, both alumni of Houston’s Kinder High School Performing and Visual Arts, were inducted by DocFest into the HSPVA Jazz Hall of Fame after they shared the stage in a brilliant performance that had the audience begging for more.

The concert was followed by a jam session at the host hotel where Mike and Kendrick performed with DocFest fans and the students from Kinder HSPVA.

DocFest was able to contribute $25,000 to the Helen & Bob (Doc) Morgan Scholarship fund. Thus far, DocFest has contributed well over $200,000 to the Helen and Bob Morgan Jazz Scholarship at New York’s New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York & Boston’s Berklee College of Music.

A Big THANK YOU to all our artists and supporters! Hope to see YOU at DocFest ’23!
