Anthony Sapp, son of a musician, grew up in the Houston area playing drums, keyboard and bass in various local bands throughout his teen years. In 1988, he began focusing on bass and his career as a musician. Shortly after attending San Jacinto College, where he studied Jazz Improv, he moved to Los Angeles to attend Musicians Institute in Hollywood. (B.I.T). It was not long before Sapp was doing numerous recording sessions in some of LA’s top studios including Herb Alpert’s 1990 release “North on South Street”.
In 1993, Sapp returned to his Houston area roots where he quickly fell into the local music scene. He has become one of the most in-demand bassists in the area on upright and electric, logging hundreds of recording sessions. He is a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 65-699 and has played for various artists on tour, from Norway to Las Vegas to Japan. He is currently serving as the bassist for Riverpointe Church in Missouri City, Texas while juggling a steady schedule of studio work and gigs encompassing many different genres of music. Anthony is an artist and spokesman for Simonetti Basses and Trickfish Amplification.
