The DocFest 2024 Holiday Concert took place on December 21, 2024, at the Denney Theatre on the Kinder HSPVA campus. Alumna Jeane July served as the Master of Ceremonies for the nearly sold-out event. The program opened with a performance by Stephanie York Blue and her jazz combo, featuring excerpts from her composition, “More Than Christmas.” Part II commenced with the Kinder HSPVA Jazz Ensemble, led by Jazz Director James Westfall. A particularly moving segment followed as Doc Morgan led the ensemble and guest performers—including former students, faculty members, and his nephew—in “A Christmas Trilogy,” a piece written by his father and dedicated to his late brother.
Featured artists and DocFest co-founders Ashley Tamar Davis and Chris Walker performed a selection of original tunes and holiday favorites, accompanied by the “DocFest All-Star Band” rhythm section. For the grand finale, the entire cast joined together for a performance of “This Christmas.” A major highlight of the evening was the induction of Stephanie York Blue and Ashley Tamar Davis into the HSPVA Jazz Hall of Fame. Additionally, Doc Morgan presented Jinx Hayden with an honorary induction into the Hall of Fame in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to DocFest.
