Mark Holden is a film & television composer based in Los Angeles and founder of Musicomm Inc. He was educated at the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts (HSPVA) in Houston and the Berklee College of Music in Boston, studying film scoring, composition, and piano.

His earliest broadcast credits include ‘The Bodyworks’ and ‘Good Luck Mr. Robinson,’ both produced by WCVB-TV in Boston and syndicated nationally by J. Walter Thompson. Both main titles were nominated for regional Emmy Awards. The latter won Mr. Holden an Emmy for best theme music.

He composed the music for ‘To Life’ produced by WCBS-TV in New York, the magazine series also running in Chicago and Los Angeles, as well as corporate ID music commissioned by Warner Cable. Series television credits include Greek (ABC-TV), America’s Next Top Model (CW), Entertainment Tonight (syndication), Ritmo Latino (Telemundo), and Poochini’s Yard (animated series syndicated).

His film credits include scores for Sub-Species II, Ava’s Magical Adventure, Beyond Desire, The Right Way, HotWired, American Hero, The Protector, Body Armor, Krago’s Island, and video game/film SnakeEater – respectively starring Patrick Dempsey, Georg Sanford Brown, William Forsythe, Ron Perlman, Cesar Romero, Timothy Bottoms, and John Rhys-Davies.

DocFest has commissioned an original composition from Mark, to be premiered at DocFest ’24 in Houston by Kinder HSPVA Latin Jazz Combo, with the composer conducting. During the concert, Mark Holden, Warren Sneed and Walter Smith III will be inducted into the HSPVA Jazz Hall of Fame (previous inductees may be seen at docfestjazz.org/hall-of-fame). DocFest ’24 will take place Saturday, March 23rd at 7 pm, in the Denney Theatre which is located in Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (790 Austin St., Houston, TX 77002).
