Guitarist John Calderón
John Calderón, has been a Houston based, professional musician since the early ‘90’s. In addition to local performing, John has worked nationally and abroad with acclaimed Jazz pianist, Bobby Lyle, Grammy Award winning R&B vocalist Regina Belle, and ten years with multi-Grammy award winning vocalist Al Jarreau. He has appeared at many of the world’s most prestigious music festivals such as, North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, and Rock in Rio.
In addition to performing, John is also an active educator, with dozens of guitar etudes published by the Texas Jazz Educators Association. He has appeared as a guest artist with the Brazosport College Jazz Ensemble, Lamar University Jazz Ensemble, G.C.I.C. Faculty Jazz Ensemble and has served as guest clinician for the U.I.L. Region X Texas All-Region Jazz Ensemble I. He has also presented clinics for the Texas Music Educators Association at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention, San Antonio, Texas.
John received a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Lamar University Beaumont, Texas.
